Indoor activity for Melbourne Kids
Brrrr … Winter is coming! Having two young boys, winter poses a challenge for me. My Littlefinders are seriously active, they need to move, run and jump and generally I prefer this not to be happening in my lounge room.
Enter – Gecko Sports
With loads of locations all over Melbourne Gecko Sports offers Littlefinders a chance to get seriously active indoors. Each session is different but each is designed to work fine and gross motor skills and trial a range of different sports in a fun, non competitive environment.
My Littlefinder joined a Gecko Youngsters group (aged 5-8 years old) and with ‘Footy and Fitness’ the program for our session i knew it would be a winner. After an energetic warm up the music was pumping and the Littlefinders ran, jumped, kicked and handballed for a full 45 minutes!
I must make it clear these sessions are not just for the super coordinated and sporty kids. There was quite a diverse range of Littlefinders in our group, boys and girls of varied skill levels, but in that beautiful way that kids do so well- everyone was totally supported and encouraged.
The range of weekly programs are outlined on the Gecko Sports Website, the terms are 10 weeks (in line with school terms) and of course since they are held indoors there are no pesky cancellations due to Melbourne crazy weather!
Gecko Sports also run kids parties – at your home or local park, a trainer, invitations and equipment are all supplied for a special sporting birthday.
